Due to major seasonal flooding in Nairobi, the main large classroom needed substantial repairs. To avoid future flooding issues the floors were raised, new cement was poured, walls were reinforced, water damage repaired and brand new paint was applied.
A child can only break the cycle of poverty with an education. Loving Compassion Africa (LCA) is working with St. Theresa's High School, in the Dagoretti slums of Nairobi, to help as many children as possible, stay in school. The facility was in bad need of repair and was unable to be used during rainy seasons. Children can NOT go to school if they do not have a classroom.
Nelson Mandela (First Black President, South Africa)
‘Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation. It is what we make out of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.’
